Help Wanted: Christian Friends!

Added a post Mar 25

Aaahhh thanks, thats so sweet. Well I found a Christian Meetup Group. We are meeting this Saturday and going to the movies to watch The Cross. Some of the people there have suggested doing some community service which I am excited about because I believe my calling is to serve others. I'm also scheduled to go to two retreats where I know I will meet others who share my beliefs. Of course I am still praying for a good God fearing husband and keeping my eye out at church. Congratulations on your engagement! That must be sooo exciting! I'll keep you in my prayers and thanks for the well wishes. Reply »

Help Wanted: Christian Friends! 4 Replies

I've recently been praying to God to send me some Christian friends. Don't get me wrong I have plenty of girlfriends who go to church and are good people. But I am looking for girlfriends who share the yearning that I feel to get closer to God. Friends who understand my new adopted philosophy that we are in this world but not of this world. I have been a Christian all of my life. But it was not until recently that I was at a low point in my life that I decided I could not do things on my own and give it all to God, and trust him. Since then I have felt an eagerness within me to worship and get closer to our Lord. I see things clearer now. I realized that I had been puting God in a box and taking him out when it was convient for me, sickness, funerals etc. I don't want to do that anymore, I want him to be the center of all aspects of my life. I am Catholic and attend church. I have also been attending Lakewood Church because they have more activites than my church. I read about them doing missionary work, I have been praying for that too. I cannot afford to go right now, but I know that if God wants me to go, he will get me the funds. (Ok I'm getting off topic) I live in Houston,TX, I believe there are 3.2 million people including the suburbs. So if you live in Houston drop me a line and maybe we can get together. I need Christian friends who understand my new mentality, and who can keep me in check! Reply »

For Lent I'm letting go and letting God

Added a reply Mar 2

I totally know how you feel, sometimes I wonder if it will ever happen. I see others that find someone so effortlessly and wonder why. I have been feeling so down the last couple of weeks, not eating, staying in bed, missing school, crying. It was at my lowest that I had to cry out to Jesus to take the veil of hopelessness away. I don't understand how it was so easy for this guy to let go of me and move on. But what I do understand is that the experience allowed me to get closer to God and if that is all that comes out of it, then it was worth it. I went to hear Joel Osteen speak yesterday. His sermon was about not getting stuck in a situation but instead knowing that God is looking at the big picture and we can't see it, but we have to trust and keep the faith. Your broken heart and mine will heal. We don't know what life will bring us, but we need to trust that God has a plan for us. I'm grateful for finding this network and I will keep you in my prayers as well. Reply »

For Lent I'm letting go and letting God 5 Replies

Well here I am again, heartbroken over a man. Turns out I opened up my heart but it wasn't enough. I have been feeling sorry for myself for the past two weeks since I found the pictures of him and his new girlfriend. It makes me think if I will ever find the man that God created for me. I can't continue to tourture myself. Today is the start of Lent, I decided that I can't keep holding on to a memory without driving myself nuts. So for lent, I've decided to let go and put it in God's hands. I know that whatever happens in my life, he always has the best for me. Reply »
