Women Praying Boldly

Bible Study for Singles?

Help! I was wondering if any of you had suggestions on a Bible Study for young single women? I am having a difficult time finding something I really feel the girls will get the most out of. I welcome ALL suggestions.

Thank you all...

Possible Issues: Guarding Your Heart without Losing Your Mind; Mentoring, Mean Girls, and Women's Ministry; Navigating the Seasons of Life....Maybe going through a book together?

"Guarding your Heart without Losing your Mind"-that sounds like it would make an awesome book! I'd read it! :-)

I have done book studies on Battlefield of the Mind and Reduce me to Love by Joyce Myers and they were fairly amazing.

I would highly recommend Five Aspects of Woman. It really needs someone to teach it that has gone through it before, but you may be able to pull it off. :) http://www.fiveaspects.com/catalog/five-aspects-woman-c-24.html?osC...

I would also recommend any books on being a godly woman and having an understanding of Biblical sexuality...

Hi Leslee,
We actually did a semester on "Get Married." The book brought six of us together and we decided that we needed to keep growing and learning together after we finished it. This last year, we worked through "Captivating" by John and Stasi Eldredge. The book needs to be taken with a grain of salt, so to speak, but we definitely benefited from it. We finished up the last year by doing a study on women of the New Testament - focusing on character qualities of godly women. What I found through the last year and a half of leading a single girls' small group was that the focus of study wasn't the most important thing - we found ways to connect our lives and struggles and dreams to pretty much any topic! I personally benefited greatly from the study of women from the New Testament.
Blessings,
SarahJane

SarahJane:
I"m glad that you enjoyed "Get Married", but I really am not a fan of the book(although I do believe in a support network and encouragement for women, otherwise I wouldn't be on this site). Maybe you could go through a Book of the Bible or do a type study in the Book of Proverbs(Lady Wisdom vs. Lady Folly). I'm sorry that Captivating didn't do much for your group---I think some of the things that text addresses should really be addressed within the confines of Biblical counseling. I am thankful that you are starting to see the fruits of Bible study fellowship, as they can be great vehicles for community, which involves the connection of living, daily struggles/challenges, and dreams.

Our small group is currently studying Romans 8, verse by verse, and it has been very beneficial.

We just did a study on Romans 8 last night. It is an incredible chapter and the girls seem to really apply it to the transitioning and waiting occurring in their lives right now.

Thank you all for the many suggestions. This definitely helped me discern what our next step for our Bible study will be. I have decided our next study will be Captivating. I presented this to our group yesterday and they look forward to learning more about their specific calling as a woman of God. Please keep us in your prayers.

Thanks,
Leslee
