Funny, But So True!

What is it with some of us single girls?

Why is it when we finally get in contact with what seems to be a significantly nice member of the male species, our minds automatically start PLANNING???

What do I mean? You know- the courtship, dates we'd like to go on, how we'd work together as a couple... even wedding colors!

Here's a great comedic example of what I mean:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hbnc-7FHWJw

(This video cracks me up! :D )

As I was saying, sometimes we single ladies have a tendency to do this... WHY we don't know!

A friend of mine and myself were experiencing this just this weekend. Her story was that a young man asked if he could call her, which in her mind usually means he's interested. My story is that I met someone new and interesting on the internet, and we seem to have some things in common.

But BOTH of us already had these pre-planning-type thoughts RUNNING through our minds. (We need to hustle anyway, right? We've waited for this for SO LONG!)

Yet, these thoughts are also disturbing to us sometimes... because we feel that they go against our desire to trust in the Lord for our future mates. Because- no matter how hard we're praying for it now, it's still a great matter of trust.

Thank the Lord that He's on top of these thoughts!

I was reading my Bible the other day, and this verse leaped out just for this occasion-

Proverbs 16:9~"A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps."

In a way, it really doesn't matter how much our minds start working in this way. If we really are seeking the Lord, and listening for His voice, He's not going to steer us the wrong way. :)

Good Friends

I'm so thankful for the friends God has placed in my life.

Recently I went to visit a few friends in Indianapolis. While there, I was telling one of them about Candice Watter's book.

She got REALLY excited about it! So much so that after I explained what the book was all about, she said, "Where do I order it?!?"

Also, when our other friend showed up where we were talking, and after we all conversed on the subject of future husbands, she asked us if we could pray about it before we went to bed.

I have to confess- even though I'm signed up on this site, I really don't pray about this that much, nor do I make a serious effort to prepare for this possibility. I guess I have it in my head that I need to meet someone first?

But I appreciate a friend that's not only sensitive about this area herself, but also for her friends. :D

I Never Knew...

Have you ever felt like there must be something wrong with you, because no one seemed to be chasing you? I have to admit that I've felt like this on many an occasion.

Well, I had something encouraging happen the other day. (At least, it was encouraging to me!)

I happened to catch up with an old (married) college buddy of mine. We had a long serious conversation, which then turned to lighter things and memories. Of course, he asked if I had any prospects, and I said no.

Well, somewhere along the way, he actually admitted that he had a crush on me way back when!

The funny thing to me is that I never noticed. For whatever reason, it never dawned on me that he would be interested.

Of course, he did admit that I seemed to be more interested in the dream, rather than the reality, of a relationship... :D ... but at least there was a little confirmation in there for me to realize that I'm not TOTALLY undesirable!!!

It's small, I know... but I relish in the small evidences of God's love and encouragement... He's looking out for me. :)

Hello!

The first thing I have to say is WOW...

It's very encouraging to know that I'm not alone in my being alone!

I look forward to helping pray for others on here.

I don't have much to say yet, but for my first entry, I'd like to share something a single friend of mine shared with me the other day. The singing isn't perfect, but the words are fabulous! I hope you enjoy this! :)

http://www.imeem.com/msjennyespinosa/music/RudJkyVc/ibma_asian_trio_god_wants_to_hear_you_sing/

And here are the words, in case you aren't able to listen to it:

Verse One:
Their chains were fastened tight
Down at the jail that night
Still Paul and Silas would not be dismayed
They said, "It's time to lift our voice,
Sing praises to the Lord;
Let's prove that we will trust Him come what may."

CHORUS:
God wants to hear you sing
When the waves are crashing 'round you
When the fiery darts surround you
When despair is all you see
God wants to hear your voice
When the wisest man has spoken
And says, "Your circumstance is as hopeless as can be"
That's when God wants to hear you sing

Verse Two:
He loves to hear our praise
On our cheerful days
When the pleasant times outweigh the bad, by far
But when suffering comes along
And we still sing Him songs
That is when we bless the Father's heart

Thanks so much Nat! :)! I'm glad that you enjoyed the little cartoons--they were created on a whim one day when I was playing around on the computer. I wanted them to have that little kid feel, as though a child had drawn them....kind of like those cartoons that I used to watch as a kid--simple and kind of messy, but they get the message across. ;)

How is your day going today? I hope that you are doing well!

Have a blessed day, resting in Him,
Al :)

How are things going? What do you do during the summer when you're not teaching?

Hi again! Thanks for your advice. When you said pray about it, I thought, of course-I usually pray about everything, but I never really thought about praying about this specific situation. Maybe because my friend's comment about "forcing" something made me embarrassed that I got in contact with this guy. But, now we are in contact and I can't "read" him. I want to be somewhere between aggressive and passive (I suppose that might be "bold"). It's confusing. Anyway, I will definitely pray on it. Thanks again! :-)

Hey Natalie,
Thanks for commenting on my blog.

What do you teach? I am applying for teaching jobs in my area and I hope to get a Grade 2 position.
