Female
United States
Hometown:
San Diego
Relationship Status:
Single
About Me:
Never been married. Desire to be & grateful to find a community who will pray to that end. Could probably fill a book of all the silly answers or comments I've gotten, IN THE CHURCH, when expressing (oh, horrors!) that I desire to be married & asking others to pray for me! Haha, I'll bet all of us could fill a book with the typical answers, "don't worry, it will happen," "don't worry, honey, God has someone for you," "I have this friend who has a brother, whose cousin is single..." and the usual, "Don't worry about that, just get close to Jesus." (Usually said by someone who's been married since she was 18 & foolishly assumes that all single Christian women who desire to be married must not be close to Jesus already?!?!???) OK, end of rant! :-)
Favorite Music:
Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, The Kry, classical, sacred, Annie Barbour, Steven Curtis Chapman, Mandisa, Bethany Dillon, Rich Mullins, Natalie MacMaster
Favorite Movies:
The Princess Bride, Enchanted April, It's a Wonderful Life, Life is Beautiful, Pride & Prejudice (all versions), Persuasion, Nacho Libre, Monsters, Inc., Bella, Cars, etc.
Favorite Books:
The Bible, Get Married, The Restorer by Sharon Hinck, most anything by C.S. Lewis or Tolkien, etc.
Favorite Authors:
Francine Rivers, J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, A.W. Tozer, Andrew Murray, Sharon Hinck, Candice Watters, Bodie Thoene, Jane Austen, Lousia May Alcott, Peggy Stoks

I can TOTALLY relate to what you say in your About Me section! lol. You put into words exactly how frustrating it can be! It's really easy for people to offer "comforting" or "encouraging" words when they themselves are happily married... we just gotta keep praying and dreaming big! =]

I'm so fed up with all these cliches that are thrown as rocks to us singles - so much nonsense and unBiblical myths that we often hear!
All this rubbish about just letting Jesus be our number one bridegroom & husband: a well-propagated myth, and a popular, pious-sounding one, but it's not Scriptural. There is nothing in the Bible that tells us that desiring a Godly husband would be wrong.
Yes, Jesus is our Savior & King, but that does not rule out a loving husband! They are completely different issues... God-given, loving relationships do not diminish our love to the Lord, quite the opposite.

Actually, the whole idea of 'Jesus our Husband' has been around a long time, since the Medieval times, and has been a popular religious idea throughout the centuries, especially in the Roman Catholic church. That thinking has been the source to lots of unhealthy mysticism, sensualism and bizarre spiritual manifestations...
Yes, Jesus is the Bridegroom of the whole Church, but that kind of thinking and theology that encourages every individual Christian to adress Him as 'my Lover' or 'my Husband' is twisted and off the track.

Nothing unspiritual to long for a God-given, earthly husband... I am looking forward to meet mine! :)

Meanwhile, haha, I get an email today from an older friend, saying I should just "let Jesus be my 1st Husband, make Him 1st in my life & tell him that I'm willing to go on w/Him no matter what, single or married & then just let it go." Yeah, right. Because everyone knows we single Christians are SOOOO unspiritual that we've never actually done that before & that marriage is an "idol" in our lives & that's why we aren't yet married, but when we "finally let go," it'll all be better! Grrrr!
