I should first tell you, I'm not a blogger! My friends keep telling me I need to post on facebook more, but seriously who has time? (especially when your working on getting married!) This book has completely changed how I live my life. A year ago, I was completely content not to be married. I have a great career, great co-workers, a few close friends and family. Since reading your book, and everything on Boundless.org, I am happy to say I'm not just waiting to be found!
When, I stopped going to church out of ritual and to attend the local singles groups. God placed me into a church with true community. He is freeing me up to not only serve and bless others, but to recieve rich, deep relationship and community with others. I have been at this church for almost 6 months now, and really enjoying it. It does feels like an obligation, but like a fun family gathering to worshop Christ. It took me three months, but I got the nerve to invited my pastors over for dinner. It was so great to get to know them, and be able to share my need to be mentored and my hope of getting married. They have been so receptive and excited! They are introducing me to mature Christian couples all over the church that I'm starting to get to know as well, and it just feel like everyone is willing to jump in and help. (which has been overwhelming at times!). I haven't had any "introductions" yet, but I feel like I'm building a good foundation for it when it comes.
And that's not all.... Last Oct, I bought my 1st house. My neighborhood like most in this world were not really connected with each other. I have been on a journey to get to know each one of them in their own unique way, and slowly draw them out! I'm happy to say last week we had our first community barbeque in which all but two houses participated in! And since I live in a neighborhood with lots of young kids.... I have started offer date night sleep overs. So I have two families at a time, leave their kids with me for an overnight campout in my living room, so that their parents can do whatever they need to do to grow and bless their marriage. I have been excited at the response and to see the families around me flurishing! It almost doesn't matter if I ever have my own family or not, because I'm so excited to see my neighbors families grow and my church family grow, it's hard to imagine more!!!
SO...Thanks for helping me get out of my self and out of my shell!!! I now living out loud, and letting everyone know I'm interested in getting married!!! Now it's God's turn! I alternate meeting with 2 different mentoring couples weekly. And allowing God to lead!!! Thanks for writing this book....
